Are borders just that?
Has anyone ever come up with a way to extend an animation beyond the border
of a flash document? It's real easy when in the design area to animate
wherever you want on the page, but only what's within the document borders
ever shows up when the swf is embeded into an html page.
I guess what I'm trying to do is have a 500x500pixel animation (with a
transparent background) only have it's footprint take up a single
100x100pixel cell of a table, expanding (in an upper-left hand direction)
over the top of whatever else is on the page and then dissapear--all, of
course, without having to get into popup close buttons and such.
Be honest. Am I just pipe-dreaming here--or is my recent sleep deprivation
exhibiting itself?

You could use a mask.
Everything outside the mask isn't visible.
