Argh! text problems CS to v10 - Adobe Illustrator Windows

I have a file that is going to be swapped back and forth between myself and a client. She will be updating text. She has illustrator 10. When we started working on the project so did I. Now I have CS, the text becomes a mess when the file is exported to illustrator 10. Is there any way of telling CS to use the old engine, so that text objects can stay as single objects and not get cut up into hundreds of boxes? Help! It'll mean a *lot* of work wasted if I cant figure this out. Getho...

If you do not get a better advice, it may be more convenient to use 10 for this task.

Or just copy the text to Illustrator.
Select the text box in Indesign, copy, then paste in Illustrator.
