    Default asp.net security

    I am trying to use the excel.application object from within a asp.net page.
    I keep getting access denied on the <machinename>/aspnet account. I have
    added this user to every security group on the machine (Adminstrators,
    <machinename>/Admins, <machinename>/Authors etc.) as the asp.net error
    message suggests.

    Why do I keep getting this security error? I am the administrator on the
    box.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey John,

    You might want to try this to see if it gets things moving...

    In IIS, disable anonymous access and enable Windows integrated authentication.

    In your web.config, use impersonation:

    <identity impersonate="true" />

    This should tell ASPNET to use your authentication when it needs a resource.

    It may be that some tasks are still using the IUSR_<machinename> account.
