Sorry, these orphaned objects are inaccessible. When the page that created
them abnormally went out of scope, the reference to the unclosed objects was
lost. Note that I said "abnormally". If a page goes out of scope normally,
i.e.,, with no errors, the ADO objects will be cleaned up gracefully. It's
when your pages end abnormally due to the user pressing "Stop" or an
unhandled error occurring, that the objects may not be cleaned up properly
leading to the memory leaks that ultimately cause ASP to stop responding.

    Bob,

any suggestions of what I can do in the meanwhile? (or
just work as fast as possible to correct code?

    tyvm in advance.

Sorry, I really have no other suggestions. The good thing is that it will
force you to re-examine your code for any other inefficiencies.

I guess one thing that he could do to band-aid this while waiting to
complete the fix is to search the asp files and find all the names used for
the recordsets everywhere - hopefully they're all relatively uniform like
rs* or objRS* or something - and then add an include like this at the bottom
    of all pages:

    <%
    On Error Resume Next
    rs1.close : Set rs1 = Nothing
    rs2.Close : Set rs2 = Nothing
    'etc.
    objADO.Close : Set objADO = Nothing
    On Error Resume 0
    %>

Where rs1, rs2 are the actual names of the recordsets found in the search.

While this is not ideal, it should at least close and kill any recordsets
    and adodb connections.

sshilo, after you finish fixing this code, be sure to slash the oringal
    coder's tires or something. <g />

which database and OS are you using ?
I recently had similar situation with Access DB when moving to Win2003/IIS6
This was traced to a " deadlock in one of the Jet drivers " with the help of
some MS people in the IIS newsgroup
Unfortunatly MS 'chose' not to fix the Jet issue - only fix for us was to
    move to MSDE
