Re: Assistance needed
1. Make point-text object for each letter, so 26 uppercase, or 26 lowercase, or 52 for both.
2. Set the text centred and shift text below the baseline, so the baseline passes through about the centrre of the letters (just make them all the same).
3. Option-drag each letter into position. Don't worry about rotation.
4. Make sure you form a valley in the top or the hourgrlass, and a hill in the bottom.
5. Go to Object-Transform-Transform Each. Only change the rotation sto about 180, click Random, then OK. Do this at least twice.
6. Fine tune the image now by moving single letters so that they seem so be lying at a latural angle (If there's a capital A on the bommon if shouldn't be on its point, but on one sied).

How do you "make point-text object for each letter? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: Assistance needed
Becky:
1. Type a letter;
2. Ctrl-Click in white space (to deselect the letter you just typed;
3. Repeat.
Point text is a phrase used to indicate text typed from a starting anchor point, as opposed to inside a container.
A quicker way, is to activate the type tool, type a whole set of characters, then go to Type>Create Outlines, then Object>Ungroup, then use steps 3 to 6 given by Scott.
