Attaching a .exe file to a webpage link - Macromedia Director Basics

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to attach a projecter file to my webpage. I don't want to shockwave it, but want people to be able to download the actual .exe file. Do I need to make it into a special type of hyperlink? Many Thanks larmyia...

you just create a normal hyperlink ... BUT

adding an EXE file to a hyperlink is not recommended - many web servers disable EXEcutable hyperlinks and you will get a File Not Found error. Add to this the fact that people are trained to not download EXE files for fear of a virus and it probably isn't worth it.

your best bet would be to :

    (a) Zip it up and offer it for download that way

    or

    (b) create an installer using a program like Wise or Installshield and have it create an online installer using CAB file(s) that can be linked

otherwise the hyperlink would be :

    <A HREF="path2file">Download Now</A>
