    Default attempted downgrade attack

I have an error message on an XP client that is a member
of a 2000 domain that states the following. "The security
System detected an attempted downgrade attack for server
    cifs/(Our SERVER NAME)."

I cannot find anything about this error message on
    support.microsoft.com. Any ideas?

    Default attempted downgrade attack

I too have (had) the same issue and spent my whole
weekend solving this problem. You didn't by any chance
install hotfix 823980 on your 2000 server did you? I did
and that is when the problem(s) started. I removed the
hotfix from our server and all is well again.

How do we tell Microsoft about this issue with the
hotfix? If we do nothing it will be incorporated in a
service pack or hotfix group package down the line and
then we will be in real trouble.
