Is there some particular subject/style you normally work with that I could test?
If you are located in the US, I would be willing to print an 8x10 inch file you provide, at the printer settings you want, and send you the prints so you could decide for yourself.
I normally use VuePro to print at a gamma of 1.8 on a Windows system.
