Attn: Artists Contest
Attn: Webmasters,Flash Animators, Graphic Artists
Rusty Clearwater and the Buttermilk Mountainfolk are currently looking for a
webmaster, animators, and graphic artists to launch this mixed media project in
the arena of the World Wide Web. We are a collective family of artists that
use theatre of the mind to create sonic, visual and literary landscapes for the
consumption of all art lovers and free thinkers. Robert Champion is currently
funding this project and will pay for the domain. We are also running two
contests that begin on Sept 21rst and end on Nov 21rst. The details are below.
It is our hope to provide a hub for Rusty Clearwater and the Buttermilk
Mountainfolk so that their message (and the message of the growing family) will
be well documented. Web designers must have a working knowledge of the current
technology…Flash experience is a definite plus but is not required. We
welcome all students into this project. This is open to anyone with the time
and energy…
So here is the contest. The first one is related to our logo….You will be
given two jpeg images and will have two months to come up with what you think
is your best attempt at a logo. This logo will appear on the website as well
as the productions of Rusty Clearwater and the Buttermilk Mountainfolk. If you
are interested in this contest email Robert Champion @ CHAMPIONLombard@aol.com
for the two images. The winner of this contest (to be voted on by the 500
members strong combined mailing list of phanthropology and the Rusty email
discussion) will win fifty dollars and will be first in line to work on other
web projects as the site is developed…Such projects will be illustrations to
the stories, poems, and other written works of the members…Other projects
include cover art and various graphics for Ultraspunk Technologies….a non for
profit organization dedicated to helping out artists with mental and physical
disabilities.
The second contest is for flash and other animation students/specialists. You
will receive two mp3s and will have two months to create your best flash
animation for either one. The winner of this contest (to be voted on by the
same members as above) will win one hundred dollars and will be offered more
work for more mp3s. I must stress that before you email Robert asking to be
involved you must have a sense of humor and an appreciation for the absurd.
Rusty Clearwater and the Buttermilk Mountainfolk are one half absurdities and
one half serious arts.
The Third portion of this update is to request another flash animation. This
animation will be on the home page and will be entirely up to you to create.
We will feed you a historical background of Rusty (The Main Character) and will
email you images and photography to work with. However, you do not need to use
these images in the flash…..They can be used if you'd like, but is not
required. We want to give you as much freedom as humanly possible in the
creations of this collective. You will give our music files life. You will
take the story of Rusty Clearwater into the new millennium of mixed
media….Money is tight right now (we are currently writing grant proposals)
and every penny counts. We wish we could offer more money with this contest
but we hope that you see the obvious potential of getting involved with such a
motivated and large project.
Come on students….This is a perfect chance to sharpen your craft!
This is a request to be a part of Rusty Clearwater and the Buttermilk
Mountainfolk….Originally a band of eight members (Rusty Clearwater and the
Buttermilk Mountainboys), it has now introduced several female members into the
collective…So what exactly is this project?
-Graphic Art
-Paintings
-Animation
-Comedy
-Music
-Written Form
-Theatre of the Mind
-a non for profit attempt at bringing some light into the world.
I look forward to hearing from you….and good luck!

Re: Artists Contest
This sounds very much like an attempt to effectively get the deign work done
for VERY low rates. It would cost hundreds or thousand of dollars to get a
designer to do what they want .. instead they are asking you to do it for
peanuts in the guise of a 'contest'. Designers have been warned about this
sort of thing before. BE WARY !! .. make sure you don't put more than $50
or $100 of your resources and time into the contest, or you are being taken
advantage of !!

souls to do enter.
The point many don't understand about these "contests" is that all
submitted work is usually owned by the entity sponsoring the contest. So
they get all the work to use as they see fit.
In my opinion it's a scam to get free work, or work done on the cheap.
