ATTN: Eric Meyer- Complexspiral Question - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Hi Eric, I emailed you last week, but you must be quite busy, so I'm trying here. I'm trying to implement the Complexspiral bg image idea and am, of course, not able to make it work in IE. (For the sake of time, I'll cut and paste from my previous email) In "Eric Meyer on CSS", page 279 there is a note which says that Andrew Clover has a javascript fix for this IE problem. Yet, when I surf to the address in the book ( http://and.doxdesk.com/software/js/fixed.html) it says the page cannot be found. If I try to surf in ...

Default ATTN: Eric Meyer- Complexspiral Question

Hi Eric,

I emailed you last week, but you must be quite busy, so I'm trying here.

I'm trying to implement the Complexspiral bg image idea and am, of course, not
able to make it work in IE. (For the sake of time, I'll cut and paste from my
previous email)

In "Eric Meyer on CSS", page 279 there is a note which says that Andrew Clover
has a javascript fix for this IE problem. Yet, when I surf to the address in
the book ( http://and.doxdesk.com/software/js/fixed.html) it says the page
cannot be found. If I try to surf in each directory leading up to that folder,
I get the same result, or am prompted to enter a password.

The question is: is there still a fix? If so, where the heck is it? I'd really
like this to look as close as possible to my original idea in IE PC.

That's a very dodgy little script, there :-). For that result, Marja's
Persistent DIV script is far smoother. If all you want to do is emulate
Position: fixed in IE6, then this technique will work without the jumping:

http://www.projectseven.com/mxvision/fixednav/fixedbar.htm

There is a link on the page to Eric bednarz's site where he has examples of
horizontal fixed divs.

I think the Complex Spiral example deals with background-attachment: fixed
in DIVs (IE will fix a body bg image, but not a child of the body)

I'm still a couple of weeks behind in my Inbox. Fortunately someone
else posted the new URL, which changed about a month after the book was
published (which happens to at least one URL in every book I publish).
