    Default Auto Numbers

I have a book that I produced for a client on A4 non-facing pages. There were around 220 pages in total and the book was perfect bound.

They now want the same book in A5 size, intending to print inhouse on A4 landscape sheets from a laserjet. This throws up the issue of the auto page numbers and document layout for arranging the pages.

Can this be done in InDesign or will I be better off placing pages manually from the pdf?

I've just realised - I will have to manually scale all the page elements so I might as well place the pdf pages and fit the content proportionally!

Go to print and use pdf as your printer driver; you can reduce the size of your document and a pdf then appears on the desktop (well, that's what happens here...).

Import to ID using the 'place multi-page pdf' script and then use InBooklet to create your spreads. (CS2)

Thanks David for the advice. I'm using CS1 so didn't have the plugin on my Standard Creative Suite discs. I found a PDF Multipage Import script in the Exchange and after a minor edit I got that working. I am looking at InBooklet too so thanks for the pointer.

Search also for Shane Stanley's free two-up script. It doesn't allow for creep like InBooklet does but it's simple and it works a treat.
