When setting 'Check out files when opening' to true for a site on the 'remote info' section of the site definition window nothing actually seems to happen.

If I have site with a local copy and a remote webdav server, opening a local file does not check out the file as that option would suggest it should! Nor does it do so if you try to open the file from the remote view in the site window.

It only does it when you have no local version of the file in question. But once you do have a local copy it happily ignores the ones on the remote server - even if they have changed! I thought the whole point of this option was to ensure you don't accidently overwrite a newer remote file with an old local version. If it won't automatically get the remote file when opeing the local copy then what's the point!

I can manually check it out but I want it be an automatic process otherwise people always forget to do it and end up overwriting each others work!

What gives? I'm using Dreamweaver MX 6.1 on Windows XP. Connecting to remote server via webdav version 1.03.

This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!
