Automatic numbering and bulleted lines
Hi,
How can I configure InDesign (2 or 3) in order to apply styles that contain bullet points or number and have them incremented when a new line with the same style is added ?

The PM plugins for ID CS have some simple capability for bullets and
numbering.

Indeed quite simple capability... I really would need something powerful to work with. Like multiple levels of numbering (1., 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.1.1,...). The thing I noticed also is that when another style (not numbered) is placed between two numbered styles (1. and 2. for instance) the flow is not maintained and style 2. becomes 1. Quite disappointing when working on a 200-page user manual.
But, is InDesign the best tool to lay-out manuals with high level structure?
Have someone heard about other plug-ins or scripts that would do the trick?

Unfortunately, InDesign doesn't field some long document capabilities I
would wish... at least not yet. So we have to do workarounds with scripts.

that does 5 level deep numbering with headlines in InDesign. I can provide a
ID2 and IDCS version. And give me time until I am at home after work,
approx. 7 hours.

Why don't you post your "5 level deep numbering with headlines in InDesign" tool over on the scripting forum or other location? There are likely a lot of FM users like myself that are looking to transition to ID.

You might be better off checking out FrameMaker. If you need dictionary-style running heads, foot/endnotes, section and figure numbering, cross-references, then FM is a better choice. If you want high-end typography, better colour management, and better integration with other Adobe apps, go for ID.
