    Default Automatically place photos?

I am looking for a solution that will allow me to place a folder full of photos into an InDesign document, formatted as I specify, adding pages as necessary.

I have been looking at Cacidi.com's Contact Sheet. Does anyone have any experience with it, or is there a better solution?

It is to build several product catalogs.
    Thanks!

Try using Bridge to create an InDesign Contact sheet. You can specify the amount of images per page and it will add necessary pages as required. It is still quite simplified but it may help you get the images qucikly and neatly into an InDesign document.

The InDesign contact sheet in Bridge is good. But to be clear, that feature is only available if you purchased the Creative Suite 2 (not just InDesign).

    Hi socalmacdude--

Try the ImageCatalog.jsx example script for InDesign CS2 (it'll even work with InDesign CS if you change its extension to .js). You can find it in a zip archive (with all of the other example scripts) at:

    <http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/xml_scripting.html>

Download the zip archive, then uncompress it. Take the contents of the JavaScript folder and put them in the Scripts folder inside the Presets folder in your InDesign folder. At this point, they'll appear in the Scripts palette (Window>Automation>Scripts). To run the script, double-click the script name in the Scripts palette. The script will display a dialog box where you can set options for image placement.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ole,

    Good to hear from you!

Thanks for the tip. I tried it in CS (good tip on the extention!), but it didn't respond beyond choosing the folder. I opened the script, but didn't see anything obvious.

Also, thanks to Steve, although I only have CS1. I need to get CS2 one of these days!

It looks like I may not need to buy a plug-in.

    Thanks,

Ken, this is a CS1 catalog maker, which is Applescript so it needs an scpt. extention:

    Wow! That works great!! Thanks!

It looks like to get the pictures placed where I want, I can set default margains accordingly.

    Thanks,
