Backround Transparency - Macromedia Director Basics

Hullo all, A very simple question: I have an image of an object with a white background. When I import it to Director and apply a 'background transparency' ink to it, I still get lots of speckles of white around the image. What should I be doing? I've tried saving the image from photoshop as pict with a transparent background, but it still shows a slight, but rather distinct white edge around it. Any suggestions are very much welcome. Thank you. Riani...

    Hi Riani,

i think i got the answer to your question:

It is normal that you still have some white backgrounds on your images, but,
you should be able to do next:

On Photoshop, index the image to "bitmap" it, the path is image>mode>Indexed
Color, then select the "exact" palette... then you would be able to save it
    and import it from Director.

This does not solves the problem at all in all cases, but then you can use
the paint tool in Director so you can "delete" the white spaces, nor u can
use matte with the background color.

    hth.

Save it from Photoshop or Fireworks as a .png and make sure you have a
    transparent background instead of white.

    Thanks! Works perfectly!
Thanks also to flavio... I did try the "image>mode>Indexed Color, 'exact'
palette" tip, but the 'exact' palette was not available (grey)....

    another question:
Is this the only way to go around this? I seem to remember way back when I
was a student that I could just import images and directly apply
'background transparency' and having a clean result? Now I'm wondering if
maybe they were images made from within director (using paint / vector
tools)... Never mind, png works just fine...
