backwards compatibility between acrobat 6 and lower versions
Hi all
We save a document in Acrobat 6 (Professional)after adding metadata and security information. Our security level is 'can be opened by acrobat 3.0 or later'. Printing is allowed, accessibility is allowed, but changing the document is not.
When I go to open the file in a lower version of acrobat (5, for example) a warning window comes up to say that there might be information missing, etc.
I need to know the setting to make this window go away please. Helpful hints anyone? I don't want to re-edit all the documents in v.5
thanks muchly

Re: backwards compatibility between acrobat 6 and lower versions
The last step of your process should be to use Advanced > PDF Optimizer to set the compatiibility of the PDF (this is not the same thing as the backward security option).

Re: backwards compatibility between acrobat 6 and lower versions
When I go to open the file in a lower version of acrobat (5, for example)
a warning window comes up to say that there might be information missing,
etc.
Just a further bit of information which may be relevant... Adobe changed the provider of their search engine from "Verity Software" to "Lexdek". Search indices created in AA6 are NOT useable by prior versions of Acrobat (older search indices ARE useable by AA6). If your system still has machines using older versions of Acrobat or Reader, you will probably not want to use the new Catalog for creating search indices.
