balck and white image prob.

Hi all, is there a way to convert my grayscale into a b/w without making it a bitmap (since it makes massive pixel changes). I am looking for a smooth cut betwwen the blacks and the whites, but all i get is pixel ladders ... anyone please?

Thats what grey scale will do for you, you could try vector tracing it, or redrawing it in a vector package.

Rob,

The solution doesn't lie in making it B/W. Black and White is basically 1's and 0's - black or white, and that won't solve jaggies.

In order to help, really, you 'd have to explain what you are doing, how you're trying to do it, and the intent of the image (web, print, etc.). You might consider posting the image on the web somewhere and tell us the link so you can get better (or at least broader) advice.

What TDO was saying is that if you need it crisp, vector is ONE way to do it (and a very good way), but depending on the image and its intent, it may not be practical.

So give us more information like - are you scanning it in? Where is the 'artifact' showing up - web pages or in photoshop or in print or what?

If you can give us more info, you'll probably get better help.

Peace,
Tony
