Batch Process Changing Names of Files
I am trying to run a batch process on a large number of files. I have set the process to maintain the original filename, and for the most part, the process has run fine. The problem is that it seems to be taking the original names of the files and truncating them with a ~ in the middle of the file name. Since there are a 1000+ files to go through the process, it is out of the question to manually rename the files after running the process.
Has anyone had any experience with this type of problem? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

Re: Batch Process Changing Names of Files
Liquimecium:
This happens in Fireworks 4 when you work on a Windows 2000 / XP
environment. This is a known problem, at least to me it is. I'm not sure
anymore, but you must try either one of the two methods:
- You open all files in Fireworks, then Batch with the "Include current
open files" or,
- You Batch them without opening them.
Please keep in mind that the way you open a file affects the way this
error occurs. If you open the file via either one of the following ways:
"File > Open" or "Doubleclick on the empty canvas" then the file will
most likely be opened with the cut off filename. To remedy this, you
need to drag the file icons into your Fireworks window and drop them
there. You can perfrom any of these actions:
- Set the Fireworks window size to such a size so you can drag the icons
in the application or,
- Drag the icons into the Fireworks Taskbar button, holding your mouse
steady without releasing, until the application opens, then drop the
icons in Fireworks. (Make sure you drop them on the Property Inspector
on likewise another panel so that they don't get added to any open
document (if any)).
If I remember correctly Fireworks now display the filenames in/with
their full filename length.
Then again, maybe you are working with MX/MX2004 and the errer still
occurs in those version. I don't know, but try the above solution anyway.
