Beginner: Blurry Text

I am created a text box. The text is very blurry as if it is bolded. When I actually click bold it becomes completely unreadable as if it is two letters overtop of each other but just off a touch. I think it has something to do with the thickness of the letters but I don't know how to change that (differnt fonts and text size don't work).

I suspect you have accidentally attached a stroke to it.
