benefit of "Nulling" objects - Coldfusion - Advanced Techniques

All, Is there any benefit to "nulling" objects after they're no longer necessary? I'm particularly talking about cfc instances, queries, and structures that contain lots and lots of data (a struct with thousands of keys, for example). Do you know of any doentation or other profiling where this has been measured? I'm looking not so much for guesses or hunches as real experience with performance/memory benefits or lack thereof. thanks a lot. Marc...

and i should also add/ask this:

since there's no way to really set an object to null in CF, only to an empty
string, does that really null the object?

I find it beneficial to nullify certain session variables whenever the user
loads a search page, but that's about it. Admittedly, the motivation was to
give myself a clearer picture of what was happening whenever I cfdumped my
    session.
