best cable modem for Macs
I'm tired of renting my cable modem and want to buy my own. Any
recommendations? I like the look of the Linksys cable modem because it
would match my Linksys hub and cable, but I think it's kind of pricey.
Are all cable modems pretty much the same inside? Does it matter whether
I spend $69 or $199? Anyone here had experience with the GlobalVillage
cable modem?

problems on Comcast. Radio Shack sells them. I think they're under $100.

ISP and ask them what "DOCSIS compliant" cable modem they recommend. You
might google DOCSIS cable modem and see what comes up. There are at
least to forms of the DOCSIS standard (I can't remember the version
numbers) but my impression is that most cable companies try to make
their service work with the lowest common denominator.
