hi,

i'm developing an application that i hope to offer commercially.

i'm interested in finding the best (and least expensive) *legal* method for
recording audio using flash media server 3 (whatever version) and then
converting it to WAV (e.g., 8kHz, 8-bit mulaw) or a similar format.

i have found a program called ffmpeg, which works very nicely. however, i can
not find info on whether this is a legal method for decoding audio in a .flv
file for use in a commercial application. (i plan to manipulate the audio on
the server side, then stream the result back in mp3 format or something
similar.)

are there features in the latest flash clients that i can take advantage of in
order to eliminate (or reduce) any license fees? (i can force clients to
upgrade their flash clients if necessary.) if not, what company do i have to
deal with for licensing, and what's the best approach?

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

tom
