Big slowdown after 9.1 upgrade from 8.6/HELP - Mac Applications & Software

I have just installed OS 9.1. OS 8.6 had been installed. I have an 8500 with a Crescendo G4 board update. Everything seems to be working printers, scanner, internet (Outlook Express/Internet Explorer), and the software for my new digital camera which would not run on 8.6 but required 9.x or X. However, things seem to be running much slower than before 9.1. Default Big slowdown after 9.1 upgrade from 8.6/HELP

I have just installed OS 9.1. OS 8.6 had been installed. I have an 8500
with a Crescendo G4 board update.

Everything seems to be working printers, scanner, internet (Outlook
Express/Internet Explorer), and the software for my new digital camera which
would not run on 8.6 but required 9.x or X.

However, things seem to be running much slower than before 9.1. The first
indication was that Photoshop seemed to be taking a long time processing
loading images, adjusting etc. The real obvious and obnoxious slowdown is
in the solitaire game. Before 9.1 cards were delt swish. Now they are
    dealt plop, plop, plop.

Back in OS 8.6 days things like this happened time to time. I would
restart, perhaps reorganize the desk top and things would go fast again.
This time those tricks do no avail.

I then went into the control pannels and began examining each function to
see if there were bizzare settings who knows what? Well I did hit two
oddities but I donıt know what to do about them or whether they are causes
    of the problem:
    1. When I go to the configuration manager, I get a message saying
"preference panels are missing." The manager loads but wonıt let me do
    anything.
    2. When I went to the extensions manager, I got a message saying "extensions
in this set are not installed." I have had things like this come up in the
past, but never a long list like this, and some seem important. The list
    follows my next pleading.

Does anyone have an idea whatıs up? Does anyone have suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Marty

Marty, it looks like you don't have Cresendo's processor extension
installed, or you may need to upgrade it from their website.

I also have an 8500 (AV, with a NewerTech G3 card), and when I upgraded
to an more recent extension, EVERYTHING worked better, no kidding (now,
if only I could run Quicken...).

You are probably right. I looked at Crescendo's manual and it described a
    second customised 9.1 installation needed.

So I started it up with close to 100mb left on my "start" disk of 516mb.
After a few seconds the process stopped saying I didn't have enough disk
space and that there was only 30 mb left. I quit and the available dropped
to 6mb. Of this I can only account for visible files of 380, 356 for the
system folder plus a few other small folders.

I am considering erasing the start disk, and reinstalling. But I will wait
till tomorrow. I don't fully know what erasing will do to my drivers for
off line disks or the crescendo driver (or whatever software makes it go).

    Quicken should be a cakewalk.

    Thanks
    Marty
