Black Box Thumbnails from Grayscale Tiffs
Apologies if this has already been covered -- forum search seems to be temporarily offline.
For the past few weeks on my Windows 2000 system all of the image previews for grayscale tiffs have been saved as just a solid black box. I first noticed it in a file I had temporarily on the desktop that changed from a real preview, and nothing is saving correctly now. RGB images are not affected. I'm using LZW compression, but I don't really think that is a factor.
Has anyone else seen this and found a cause or solution within Photoshop, or should I chalk it up to some new windows abnormality? I will admit to editing the registry key for the icon cache (which microsoft says is supposed to correct this sort of thing) shortly before the problem surfaced. It's not serious enough yet to make me want to reinstall Photoshop if there is another way.
Thanks,
Peter Spier
