Default black converts to cmyk when creating postscript/pdf file

    Hi, I have a dilemma,
I have a qxd 6.document that is in 2 colors. Only 100% cyan and 100% black is used. I need to make it into high quality Pdf for printing. When I use the export option that is avliable in quark the Pdf document is OK but I dont like to use this option and would rather print to a ps. file for later distilling so that I can be certain it has the Quality setting I need. Something goes wrong with the conversion from qxd to ps. where the cyan and black gets converted to cmyk. It looks OK on the monitor but in Acrobat Professional, under advanced-Separation Preview it shows everything containing CMYK. Iit prints on all plates)

    This is what I tried.
From Qxd printing to Ps file. I am following directions on how to do it from "Ceritec-important info for Qxd 6 pdf Creation" (this was posted on an earlier as an answer on how to create qxd to Pdfs)
and have set up a print style in qxd that I use when printing to ps file. I have tried to change settings such as selecting CMYK, Device N, As is as options for Print Colors.

In Acrobat 6.0.2 Professional I go to -create Pdf, In distiller I have high Quality setting selected, It creates the Pdf and it looks good on the monitor but when I go to -Advanced-Separation Preview. everything has 4 colors in it. I tried to select distiller setting as standard, etc. to see if it is the settings in distiller vs the ps file but this does not make a change.

    Some one, please help.

    Thanks' Pia

Check your job options in Distiller under color, and make sure that color management is turned off.

Thanks, I did have color management turned on. I unchecked it and when printing to postscript I select deviceN. It works.
