Default Black Page when creating a pdf from an Excel Document

I am new to acrobat, so I apologize if this has been discussed before. I did a search and couldn't find anything, so I thought I would try a new topic.

I am trying to create a pdf in Acrobat 6.0 professional, from an Excel file. It is a basic spreadsheet, with only text, no formulas, graphics, etc.

When I create the pdf, all that shows up is a big black rectangle, the same size at the spreadsheet I was trying to save.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

When you post in the forum try and include as much information as possible. In this instance you have left out perhaps the 2 most important facts; what version of Excel are you using and what method are you using to create a PDF.

Having said that, I am going to guess you are using Excel 2003 and Acrobat 6.0.0 and are creating a PDF by using the PDFMaker icons in Excel (or by Create PDF From File within Acrobat). If this is the case then update Acrobat to 6.0.1.

Let us know if this solves the problem.

    Sorry Jonathan,

As I said, I am new to acrobat. You are correct, however, I am using Excel 2003, and have tried both using the PDFMaker icons in Excel and the Create PDF from File in Acrobat. I do have 6.0.0, but cannot upgrade yet, as I am only using the trial version. I am going to purchase the full version, but wanted to try it out first.

    Thanks for the reply.

Try this: in Excel, choose Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. Deselect (uncheck) "Enable accessibility and reflow with Tagged PDF". Then use the PDFMaker icon.

If you want to use the method of creating the PDF from File: in Acrobat, choose Edit > Preferences > Convert to PDF > Microsoft Office and click Edit Settings and make the same change as above.
