blur effect
I got so much help with my 'how to play an external swf file'
question...guess I'll ask another one... :-)
I'm trying to learn how to create flash movies by copying effects that look
like they should be simple to reproduce...some are a little harder to
figure out. Here's one I haven't been able to, but I'll bet it's easy:
There's a piece of text that obviously uses a Transform effect to fade out
- even I could figure that part out - but the original text remains in
place, that part I don't see how to do. Any ideas? I tried to create
another layer with a copy of the original text, but (surprise) that didn't
help.

Re: blur effect
whats you're tryingto do is wery simple but...it's not he "blur"
Ok here we go. - let me see, aha, you wanted to make a blury text, right,
and you wan't to make a copy of one text and then make it a litle less
visuable..
FLASH MX
Create a simple text, then click anywhere. Then select it again but it must
be move selection, not a text selection (like a selection when you move
text)
press right mouse button and a popup appeared
and you will se "convert to symbol" near the bottom
press it with your let mouse button and then name it as you wish and then
choose graphic, not abutton or a movie clip, done it, good-
Now select the text again and drag it anywhere you like but hold the CTRL
key while you do it (to copy it)
when you copy it, notice that there is something new in the properties
rollout. you should see color: none on the right side. See that, yes, good.
now click on the little arrow to the right and choose - "alpha"
And there you have it - you can set the alpha, you will achieve a little
see-through-text effect...

Re: blur effect
(whats with everything getting posted 50 times? forum bug?
anyway, that effect wasnt done in Flash. it was done in a image editing
app(likely photoshop) then inported as a still iamge, then moved around. An
alternative that sometimes gives a nice effect that you can make within flash,
is to create a linear gradient that fades on the edges, and is visible in the
middle. When moving fast it can be very convincing
