Blurry Graphics in In Design

I have noticed that when I place PDF's or AI files that they are very blurry (rasterized) when I zoom to a regular working size. If I zoom out to 100% it looks fine.
Is this just a thing thing In Design does to keep the work flow going and I shouldnt worry? Or am I doing something wrong when I place these images?

I also have blurry/rasterized shapes in indesign since I upgraded to Tiger. They are rastered even when saved to pdf. Illusrator is not doing this. What would cause this problem in indesign?
