Default Bold-looking text on output from Acrobat 6, not 7

Headscratcher for you: a co-worker had a PDF/X-1a file distilled from an InDesign CS source with a page containing a line of text that, when printed from Acrobat 6.0.2, would appear slightly bolder upon output to a CLC5000. I checked all the usual suspects and found nothing: roman face, live text, no stroke, not outlined in the PDF, not converted to outlines on output, no flattened transparency anywhere in the vicinity of the text frame. For grins, I took it over to my machine and printed from my install of Acrobat 6.0.2. Same result. I tried it again from Acrobat 7.0.1. This time, perfect. Anyone know of any reason why Acrobat 6.0.2 couldn't output this page properly but 7.0.1 can? (PS file from InDesign CS was distilled with Acrobat Distiller 6.0.2 and certified through Pitstop Server 3.0.1.)

I was afraid of that. I have one of the only two installs of 7.0 on my floor. I'd hate to have to be an output service for everybody else. Pffft.

    Greg,

Did you drop the PDF file into a CLC output queue?

Only that by using Acrobat is a high-end print engine, you will
    experience issues.

Or use an application from ARTSPDF.com called CrackerJack - this can
invoke hot-folder printing with a better type of output engine.
