bones are missing - Macromedia Director 3D

hi, I created a model in 3ds max 6 with 6 bones (plus IK solver) inside a cylinder plus skin modifier. everything works fine there, *but* when I export the scene to w3d and look at it (using 3dpi) I see the following: Models: Cylinder01 Bone01 IK Chain 01 Default View Default Light UIAmbient I wonder where all my bones have gone? I also tried to move the Bone/IK Chain using 3dpi but nothing changed. So, how should this work then in Lingo? Cheers, David...

    Default bones are missing

    hi,

    I created a model in 3ds max 6 with 6 bones (plus IK solver) inside a
    cylinder plus skin modifier.
    everything works fine there, *but* when I export the scene to w3d and
    look at it (using 3dpi) I see the following:

    Models:
    Cylinder01
    Bone01
    IK Chain 01
    Default View
    Default Light
    UIAmbient

    I wonder where all my bones have gone? I also tried to move the Bone/IK
    Chain using 3dpi but nothing changed.
    So, how should this work then in Lingo?

    Cheers,

    David

    Use the bonesPlayer modifier to acces the bones of a model:

    member("scene").modelResource(n).bone.count
    member("scene").model("name").bonesPlayer.bone[index].transform
    member("scene").model("name").bonesPlayer.bone[index].worldTransform
    member("scene").modelResource.getBoneID("boneName" )

    Cheers,
    Karl.

    To be more explicit.

    Let's assume I want to access the bone corresponding to the right ankle of my
    character and that I named it "ankle_right" in Discreet 3DS Max 6.

    -- Get the bone index
    int_bone_index = member("scene").modelResource.getBoneID("ankle_rig ht");

    -- Access the bone and do something out ot it
    t = member("scene").model("name").bonesPlayer.bone[int_bone_index
    ].transform.duplicate()

    In 3DPI, you can see your characters' bones under the ModelResource tab.

    Cheers,
    Karl.

    3DPI will give you the bone count of the selected ModelResource, not the list of bones.
