Boot Disk Failure - Windows XP/2000/ME

I have an HP 753c computer with 1 gb of memory. My system is slow and hangs up while downloading. Also, I have come back to the computer 3 times now to find a black screen with this message: Disk Boot Failure. Insert System Disk and Press Enter. Of course, I don`t have a system disk and I`m not sure what would happen to my computer if I did insert one. Any help appreciated....

Sounds like you are either having a hard disk failure or some virus.
