Boot error message - 0517 SYNCVG ROOTVG
Sorry, my previous message contained an error. The error message on
the display of my IBM RS/6000 7025 F50 is:
0517
SYNCVG ROOTVG
not as I said previosly.
Sorry I can't reply under the original message, but I can only post
from Google groups, where it takes several hours for the message to
appear. I can read them immediatly on usenet, but choose not to reply
there becuase of spam.

machine to test software on, so it don't get much use. It runs a few
hours / week.
Despite the fact the machine only has 3 x 4.5 Gb disks, and displayed
the message:
0517
SYNCVG ROOTVG
for a long time (at least a couple of hours I'm sure), it has come
back to life!!
I forgot to switch it off (it's in my garage). When today I went to
the garage I was surprised to see the message had gone and the display
blank, which is what happens when the system is running normally.
Well much to my surprise I was able to ssh to the box. I've rebooted
it and found it still works okay, so I'm not sure what happened.
There's no mail for root saying what happened. I must admit as to not
knowing my way around the AIX log files yet, so that is one I will
have to investigate.
Anyway, it is working, despite the fact it would not boot properly for
at least a couple of hours.

"man errpt" for some options for formatting the errorlog.>>>>>>0517

"errpt" alone gives a summary of all entries in the errorlog.
