    No.
Only AIX up to 3.2.5 could be booted from floppy.

Plextor 12x and 20x drives are known good,

another aproach is booting from a SCSI tape or Ethernet.
You don't need a complete mksysb tape, only the first two images of a
mksysb tape. Should be about 3 - 5 MByte.
The bootimage from a C10/C20/41x/42x or 25x should bring your machine up
to reaching the installation media on /dev/cd0.
You can build the tapeboot image and tapeinst image on every machine
    running 5.1.

I use an external Plextor 12x for booting from CD with mksysb-CDs and
    Installation CD.

Works on 7009-C10 and 7012-370 with AIX 4.2.1 and 4.3.3 and I never
heard of any RS/6000 that does not boot from a Plextor 12x CD-R.

Even some IBM CD-ROM II don't boot, but some do.
    I have a working CD-ROM II (a Toshiba built drive from a PS/2) that
works, but never seen an original Toshiba working.

    Default boot from floppy

My company has an RS6000 AIX3.2 system that is not booting from floppy.
I have d/l boot floppy image but doesn't seek for floppy thus not
booting from it. Is there a command that can be used to force this.
