boot problem - SCO

I am new to unix and have just installed SCO Openserver 5.0.5a on a Dell Poweredge 1300. The installation all appeared to go ok, but when booting into multiuser mode the system hangs with the message: Scologin is starting (/dev/tty02). Please wait ... Could anyone give me a pointer to how I should troubleshoot this problem?...

Switch to a different screen (CTRL ALF F1 or F3, F4 etc.) and
    type scologin disable.

This will stop the graphical screen from starting - it won't 'fix'
why the graphical screen is not working but will will free up the
    console.

If you want to start the graphical screen just type startx after checking
the setup of the graphics card you are using (mkdev graphics)

    Boot to single user mode.
    Type mnt -r.
Check your mouse configuration. (Lowres KB mouse for PS2)
    Check your video configuration.
You might find a problem in your video driver selection.
    or
Remove Open Server Desktop from 5.0.x and reinstall only as a last resort.
