boot problems - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

i tried the command "mount -o remount,rw /" to do some chages in my config files however i get this message " mount could open /proc/partitions, so UUID and LABEL conversion can be d " the rest or message was off screen. then i get segmentation fault. so how can i fix this problem ?. i need to access the conf files so the system reboot. thanks...
