    Default Borders

Any time I use the image/canvas size to make a border, it only does it on two sides (instead of four) any suggestions on how to solve this?

When you use the Canvas Size dialog, you enter the new height or width (or both), specify your units, if you are in version 7, check relative or uncheck it, then position your source page with the little diagram at the bottom.

If you have the center clicked in that diagram, and enter the new height and new width, the canvas will increase by the amount you specified using the units you specified.

If your source image has a locked background the increase will be in your chosen background color. If the image is a layer, the increase will be transparent.

If you're doing the above, tell us how you know that only on two of the four sides that are increasing.

    Peace,

Because only 2 sides become transparent when i do it. By the way, I do it in increments of 1px (with the relative box checked)

Not possible. Either you are not changing both values, or your observations are incorrect. Set up a test to PROVE it to yourself using guides on the document border before resizing.

With short sentences like you have been providing, you are making us really really work to get more information. You won't find much more help like that, so you'd be better off providing more information. This isn't a guessing game.

Do you have a layer that might extend past the canvas? You could be enlarging the canvas and not notice it (especially with 1px increase). To delete anything outside the canvas, do a crop around the entire image. After applying that, try the canvas resize again.

    Eric,

<golf clap> I never would have thought of a layer that extended beyond the canvas. Well done.

I "hate it" when I'm one of the people that "don't get it."

Heh Heh Heh--it's funny now! :)
