Bottom layer spoils its upprt layer

In my bottom layer, I have a gradient fill in gray color. On top of this layer, I have some paragraphs in blue color. I want the bottom layer has no effect whatoever on its upper layer. I really want to preserve upper layer's color scheme. I tried all the blending modes and it did not work out.

How can I prevent a bottom layer spoil it's above layer?

jae....

There's no way the bottom layer can spoil the layer above it unless you have
one of the two:

1/ The upper layer is set to some blending mode other than Normal
2/ Opacity of the upper layer is less than 100%

So check that the layer being affected is set to Normal and/or 100%

also check the "Fill" of the top layer (ps7, maybe 6 too)

(Problem) My upper layer's paragraph are not same blue color.
(Situatuin)
Since my bottom layer is a gray gradient fill, the blue colors of upper layer's paragraphs are not same across the texts. Texts in upper layer are more bright blue than bottom one since the beneath layer has more dark gray colors at the lower part.
I made sure that the upper layer' blending is normal and its opacity is 100%.

I want the paragraph has same blue color looks, no matter how the bootom layer is shaped.

Jae,

That's nothing to do with Blending - it is just the contrast between your text and the background is too low.

SO, you have 3 possibilities:

1. Change the colour/shade of the b/g
2. Change the colour/shade of the text
3. Outline the text in a contrasting colour

It seems like he might need a layer in between the top text layer and the bottom gradient. If the top layer looks good against white, I'd create a layer in between the others, fill it with white (or try other colors). Then with the middle layer selected ctrl-click the top layer, hit ctrl-shift-i to select the inverse, then delete. Now the areas with transparency won't be affected by the color in the bottom layer so much.
