Default Bounding box clips placed type! Ill10

    Hi all,

I'm getting a persistent problem when placing .ai file (containing type) into Photoshop - Illustrator's bounding box clips the edges off my placed type!
    Any help much appreciated.

Draw a box behind it that has no fill or stroke slightly larger the the texts bounding box group if you plan to move the text.

You're welcome btw if you upgrade to AI CS this has been corrected in that version.
You should read about the new text engine before doing so.

You know, this used to happen to me 6 times a day, let's say maybe a year or so ago. Then it stopped for a really long time (I thought it was the 10.03 upgrade). But in the past week, I've had two files cut off on me.

I wonder what actually causes this.

Here are the smiley combos available. <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@@.2ccd0547/0> See post 1.

As to the clipping issue. As Wade said, it is fixed in CS.

In 10 or below, select all and if you see the bounding box clip through the outer edges, that is what will be clipped out. It happens along curves where the bezier handles draw the curve out beyond the the anchor point.

I thought I tried to do the smiley face thing before and it didn't work. So, I thought all you guys had downloaded that popup thing I'm always getting. But, I think I forgot to put a space after my sentence.

Since we're diverting ... how do we stop it from displaying these? I find it slightly annoying to have to pay attention every time I type a parenthesis to make sure there are no characters before it trying to convert it to an emoticon.

Goto Preferences(the link in the header)>Miscellaneous Settings>Uncheck Show emoticons.

This will only affect your view and not other user's view. So, if you typed a emoticon combination, it will show as one for users who have it enabled. You will see the text. (unless, someone links a emoticon from another source as a image)
