Broken kerning with text cut/paste from FrameMaker, AI 10

I am preparing a large number of eps files for use in a publication database. They do not have any text in them. They were placed in FrameMaker documents and the text was positioned there. Now it must have the text in the eps files. I found I could select and copy the text boxes from Frame and paste them into the appropriate eps file. Unfortunately the kerning is broken by this. Is there a way to fix the kerning?

I have read the notes about moving text from one app to another by using wordpad as an intermediate step, but there are 800+ eps files and moving all the text boxes at once rather than one-by-one will make a huge difference to my schedule, any ideas are welcome.
