Browsing Images with FW MX - Macromedia Fireworks

Hello! Is there a way of browsing a directory full of images (JPG, GIF) within FW? (Like the Browse function found in Paint Shop Pro) Thanks, James...

If you're using Windows XP, you can click on the view menu icon (on the far
right hand side of the open file dialogue box) and choose view by
thumbnails. This was a great recent discovery for me btw. Incidentally for
all the windows users out there, I upgraded from Windows '98 to XP a few
months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the better performance I'm
getting from my favorite Dreamweaver/Fireworks combo. Reboots have become a
thing of the past for me now, where as before they were far too frequent.

    Lisa:

Yes - that change from the antique memory model used by W9x/Me (and first
defined in W3x) to the WXP model makes a huge difference in performance and
    stability.

Thanks for that, but I actually meant, is the browse functionality (with thumbnails) available within FW itself. Just saves time switiching windows and would enable me to manage my image library within FW; rather than switching to XP or PSP to perform basic tasks like renaming, selecting and opening. Although the File-Open dialog box allows browsing with thumbnails but I was hoping I could keep a browse window open while working on a number of separate image(s) in separate windows. Oh well, can't have everything I suppose!

If you've got WinXP then choose to view the images in the open/import
    window as "Filmstrip."

If FW doesn't give you what you're looking for, you might like a
free program called Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com). I've been
using it for years. Others might chime in with agreement; I learned
    about it in this NG.
