Re: BSQUARE ports Macromedia Shockwave Player to AMD?s Personal Internet Communicator (PIC)
Hi Karl,
Very interesting article!
Good that shockwave as a plugin was considered worth the porting effort by
AMD.
I wonder what 3D performance the rock bottom spec is up to?
I think there is a real market for a device that isn't upgradable, and
doesn't need a meter square 12 fan cooled case. (by the time PC's need
upgrading most of the slots and parts are obsolete anyway imho).
Radioshack is going to stock in the US then? I wonder if it'll make it to
the UK.
Cheers

Unfortunately, the 3d Xtra was not ported. Shockwave 3d is not available
on the PIC.

"It allows users to view 3D games and entertainment, interactive product
demonstrations, and other interactive web content from a web browser."
Shame...although I'm not surprised.

Re: BSQUARE ports Macromedia Shockwave Player to AMD?sPersonal Internet Communicator (PIC)
It's a pity, but that's a start. And Flash when ported to devices has a subset
of the PC/Mac/UNIX Flash Player features. That's the same. Maybe more powerful
devices will get full Flash Player and full Shockwave Player in the future.
Cheers,
Karl.

Since 'origami' is basically a small-but-fully-functional Windows XP
machine, Shockwave runs 'natively'.

The UMPC platform is (currently) based around the Intel 915 Express
Chipset, which is more than capable of handling anything the Shockwave
3d engine can throw at it:
