Bug: Insert Link (Browse to Web Page) Error
I was demonstrating Contribute to a client this morning and discovered that the
"Browse to Web Page" feature does not work. Attempting to link to another page
in the site produces the error ?You can?t select this file because it exceeds
the file size limit set by the website administrator. Please select a file
under 1024 kilobytes?, even though I am not linking to a file.
This error is repeatable in multiple installations of Contribute 3.11 for PC,
does not occur in the Mac version, and does not occur when linking to pages
outside of the site. All pages in the site use .php extensions, but I have
used Contribute with other PHP sites without issue. All other page editing
features work, and again, this error only happens in the PC version.
Please help! Thanks.

Re: Bug: Insert Link (Browse to Web Page) Error
FYI: I removed the file size limit in the Contribute administration settings
and the bug goes away. Again, this should be considered a bug because it only
occurs on the PC version and linking to a page is unrelated to the file upload
limit setting.

Re: Bug: Insert Link (Browse to Web Page) Error
This just happened to me as well with Contribute 3.11 on Windows running with
several websites hosted on Apache/Linux. When we configured Contribute, we
decided on a file size limit of 1000KB. Yet when one of our first users tried
to link to another page on the website, she was told: "You can't select this
file because it exceeds the file size limit set by the website administrator.
Please select a file under 1000 kilobytes."
The HTML file is only a few KB, and doesn't contain any graphics or Flash
objects that might confuse Contribute about its size. To get this user going
again I increased the file size limit to 10,000KB, and she was able to then
create the link.
I did some testing and found out that I can link to any page on the website if
my file size limit is set to 1235KB or higher. If it is set to 1234KB or less,
I cannot create any links to webpages and I receive the error message saying
that 1234KB is insufficient.
And here's the kicker. If I set to file size limit to 1235, I can not only
link to any webpage, but I can also link to a very large (36MB) Windows Media
file, which is WAY over the file size limit. But if I set the file size limit
down to 1234, I cannot link to the same file. I suspect that I can link to any
file of any size as long as my file size limit is set to 1235KB.
So to me the file size limit sure looks like it's hardcoded and not really
implemented as a feature.

Re: Bug: Insert Link (Browse to Web Page) Error
I am having a very similar problem myself! We have a huge number of clients
using Contribute, and this has been specific to only one of our clients. There
site is part static HTML pages (created in Dreamweaver with templates) and part
dynamic PHP pages.
Contribute is setup to only access the static HTML pages, but they can
normally browse to any page anywhere on the site and link to it via the Link
button.
We have a file size upload limit of 1000 kb (1 MB), restricted in our Admin
settings for all users. One client, kept trying to create a link and link it to
and kept getting the message that the file size exceeded 1000 kb. She was
linking to a page on their site, and nothing more.
I could not duplicate this on a Mac. I watched the client, and sure enough,
she was getting this on her PC. I reset the file limit to 1235 kb, and sure
enough, she was able to link to the pages on her site.
Very odd. Has anyone reported this to Adobe as a bug?

I reported it to Macromedia (pre-Adobe) back in March but never heard back.
Maybe report it again?
