Default ...but can ID open Mac Quark files, too?

A client has sent me a set of QuarkXPress files produced on a Macintosh. I know that ID can open Quark files---that's a big reason I switched to it---but can it open Mac-version Quark files as well as Windows-version? (So far I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.) Thanks!

You just open them. You open InDesign, go to file open and point it at
the Mac Quark file you want to open. It won't even care that there isn't
    a file extension.

It will care however if the Quark file is too new. It needs to be
    Version 4, afaik.

Version 4 and single language, that's right.

Actually either XPress 3.3 or 4, to be more precise. But not 5 or 6. Single language. And not depending on any third-party XTensions.

I've "pointed" ID to all folders on the client's CD, but ID doesn't list any of them as "readable" types, and thus won't open them.

In case it helps, here's the CD's structure:

    [folder] Fonts
Mac fonts. (I think I can convert most of them to Windows fonts, but I'll deal with that later.)

    [folder] Hires
All EPS files. I recognize some of their names as illustrations in the project. Some of the others are quite big (one is 42 MB), so I assume they're the rest of the content---but native Quark files wouldn't say .EPS, would they?

    [folder] Source
    Cover graphics, apparently.

There are also three files in the CD root:

    Desktop DB
    Desktop DF
    Icon_

....which I gather are just Mac system things.

So, any ideas what I should be able to open, but which ID doesn't seem to recognize? Thanks again.

Ah---I just heard from the guy who prepared the files. He's using Quark 5. So I'm definitely out of luck? (The ID 3 user guide doesn't say anything about specific versions.)

And while Adobe makes such a large deal out of ID's Quark-opening abilities, d'you think they should mention that they're two versions behind?

It is really unfortunate, but Quark deliberately began to encode its
    files with version 5.

Still, so little changed from 4 to 5 your supplier should be able to
save down to 4 and send you a file you can import.

    Why, those sneaky Quark guys...

But sure, I'll ask my client to do that. Thanks very much for the suggestion, Simon.

Make sure the quark file will have an qxd extension, if not rename it, then
    ID should find it.

add a *.qxd to the end and then ID will see them.

Whoa, it worked! (I'd been using the "All Readable Files" filter, which showed only the PostScript files.)

I guess Quark isn't so sneaky after all---or at least they hadn't started yet w/v5. Anyway, thanks!
