button style ideas? - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Does anyone have any ideas of a modern style I can use for the buttons in the menu on these pages I'm working on? http://www.4hr.it/newsite/newversion4.htm http://www.4hr.it/newsite/newversion3.htm I've made changes to these pages 10 million times as requested by my client and trying to come up with a modern, professional layout...your opinion would be appreciated......

You would be wise to check that page in Netscape 7. The whole thing
jumps up and down when mousing over the central image.

Web:

Notices like that are pretty much sure to brand your site as being built by
a new and inexperienced developer, in my opinion.
> otherwise could be too complicated
Isn't that what you make the big bucks for?

I had a quick look through your code and am certain that your table
structure is the source of most of your problems. You are using cell
widths/heights and col- and rowspans to make the table work and that's just
a bad idea. Try running through the table tutorials at the DW FAQ link in
my sig to get started on the right path.

In addition, your use of HTML styles rather than CSS styles for the text is
sure to lead to browser/platform differences.

Finally, the page is a bit heavy - target for a page like this is 40-45K....

Size of all images: 67.832 kB
Size of HTML-source: 24.93 kB
Size of whole page: 92.762 kB

Making sure the markup (and CSS, if any) validate is a good start.
It looks to me like the central graphic is getting "caught up" by your
scrolling news box. If you have unbalanced tags, fixing that could fix
the layout problem.

In many circles, that's tantamount to putting a notice on the page
declaring your inability to be a professional Web designer, and in other
communities it's interpreted as your telling users they're idiots for
using a browser other than IE. You might want to rethink the approach.
