about 3/4 of the way and then the dreaded baechball apears and the whole

Any ideas on how to get this rig to work?

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
i'm having similar problems trying to edit pages on my mac.com site. i too
have a G5 with 2 GB of ram and am running 10.3.9....spinning beachballs and
crashes everytime i try to edit a draft...very frustrating indeed. i used to
have luck editing in contribute 3 but then the crashing started. after fooling
around with it for days, i finally uninstalled it. this was months ago. but
when i saw the new 3.1 updater on version tracker, i thought i'd give it a try
again, so i re-installed contribute, downloaded the updater, but i'm back to
square one again. spinning beachballs and crashes.
sorry i'm not any help to you. very frustrated with contribute over
here...:brokenheart;

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
Thank you for the reply. In htis case misery loves company ony in the sense
that perhaps someone on this forum or the company will take notice of the
problem.
And to continue the saga, I recently purchased a G4 PowerBook, running OS
10.3.9 and I downloaded the trial version of Contribute 3.
Guess what? It worked fine. I am able to download a draft page from my site
and edit it. I have not yet tried to publish so who knows if its fool proof.
I did try to delete everything Macromedia from my G5, including the preference
files, and reinstall the program from disk. But somehow the new install found
my old connection settings and the problem repeated itself.

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
i purchased contribute as a way to easily edit a website of mine, which is a
..mac site. here's what happens: i open contribute and connect to my
site...page number one comes up...i click the "edit" button and contribute
crashes. i re-open contribute and page number one is now saved as a draft. i
click on the draft to edit it and contribute crashes. i re-open contribute and
the draft is still there, unable to be worked on....every time i click on it to
edit it, contribute crashes. i have sent innumerable bug reports to apple.

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
taking a hint from the G4 experience, I searched all the macromedia,
dreamweaver and contribute files, extensions and preferences and trashed them
all. I doublechecked to make sure everything was cleaned from my system and HD.
I then downloaded Contribute 3.1 from this site and reinstalled.
Voila. The problems I experienced are gone. I am finally able to edit pages
on my Mac. No more crashing.
But, there art a couple of pages on the site that the program I and/or another
user are editing on another computer. I have contacted the administrator so
hopefully that'll be fixed soon as well.
I'm no techie, but I'm guessing that some corrupt file caused all the problems.

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
when i uninstalled contribute, i cleaned everything out by using the "find"
command in the file menu...trashed everything associated with contribute
3...preference files and all. so, when i re-installed contribute from cd, it
was like a clean install...as clean as i could make it, at any rate. once i
had it installed, i downloaded the updater. my crashing problems started the
first time i clicked the "edit" button, just like before...i am unable to edit
webpages. totally unable. i don't know what else to do to try to make it
work. really sorry i paid good money for contribute 3. it's useless to me.

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS CRASHING??
This crashing is insane! My client has been using Contribute to maintain their
site. As of 4 days ago, Contribute now crashes anytime they click the edit
button. It was working fine, and has now died.
This is costing me money, and my client has lost total faith in my
recommendation to them of this product, and the product itself. I have spent
that last 2 days straight (16hours) troubelshooting this, to no avail.
I have tried everything:
- Fresh re-install
- Clear server and upload whole site again
- Clear connections and create new ones
- Clear all prefs, config folders etc etc
- Tried on both Mac and PC. Both do the same thing
- Delete all reference to Contribute, everything and install everything and
create new connections, keys etc...
Nothing works and I can't isolate it in anyway.
CAN MACROMEDIA/ADOBE PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADVICE OR GUIDANCE ON THIS???

Re: C3.1 Crashing Mac OSX 10.3
NEWS FLASH - I think I may have found a solution!
I decided to compare the server version of my site, with the local one, file
for file. A slow, long task but it was worth it. I noticed that the server
version didn't have the identical number of Library and Template files as the
local version. So I uploaded them all again.
Now Contribute doesn't crash when I cleck the 'edit' button! It works. I'm
guessing that maybe Contribute tries to check for the Library and Templates
files assocaited with a page when you click 'edit'. And when it sees that the
file isn't there, it crashes. I'm just guesssing. It should really just display
an error stating "Unable to locate the following Library/Template file
associated with this page: filename.lbi".
I am not sure exactly why/when this crashing started, because I hadn't made
any changes to the Library or Template folders on the server, perhaps it has
something to do with the latest release of OS X and Contributes sensitivity.
Anyway, try this solution and see if i thelps you at all. To all those people
who keep having wierd crashes when trying to edit and publish pages, check that
any Library or Templates files associated with that page are located on the
server, in the appropriate folders.
Please respond to this thread to confirm of this fixes the problem for you. It
may save a lot of other people going through the time and expense that I had to.
