Camera question - Macromedia Director 3D

Hi all, I have a question about the camera (director8.5): camera.fieldofview = 30 camera.transform.position = vector(-84, 196, 61) camera.pointAt(-84, 280,41) CameraUp = vector(0,0,1) camera.pointAtOrientation = [vector(0,0,-1), vector(0,1,0)] and there is a 3d text model with position = vector(-100, 280, 60) the problem is i can't see the 3d text. But from the positions above, 3Dtext has almost the same z value of camera and the pointat is about -13 degree down to the z coordination. So the 3D text should be in the range of FOV of camera... Could anyone help me out on this? Thanks in advance, -Chong...

    Default Camera question

    Hi all,
    I have a question about the camera (director8.5):

    camera.fieldofview = 30
    camera.transform.position = vector(-84, 196, 61)
    camera.pointAt(-84, 280,41)
    CameraUp = vector(0,0,1)
    camera.pointAtOrientation = [vector(0,0,-1), vector(0,1,0)]

    and there is a 3d text model with position = vector(-100, 280, 60)

    the problem is i can't see the 3d text.
    But from the positions above, 3Dtext has almost the same z value of camera
    and the pointat is about -13 degree down to the z coordination.
    So the 3D text should be in the range of FOV of camera...

    Could anyone help me out on this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Default Camera question

    Hi,

    Is there a way I can tell which camera of my 3D members many cameras, is the
    one we are currently viewing through?
    Also, can i get the Index of the camera I only know the name of?

    Thanks,

    You can see which camera is currently active in some sprite:
    put sprite(1).camera.name
    this returns the name of the camera.

    if you know the name of the camera you can do this to get the index(Ithink
    there is a easier way..):
    --"w3d" is your 3dshockwave
    --
    repeat with a = 1 to w3d.camera.count
    if w3d.camera[a].name = "cameraYouSearchFor" then put a
    end repeat
    -- the returned a is the index of the camera with the name
    "cameraYouSearchFor".

    Thanks Daniel,

    Exactly what I was after. Dont know why I didnt try that to begin with.

    ...and i was hoping for a more direct method to get the current Camera Index,
    but that will do just fine for now.

    Thanks again,
    Glen
