Can Acrobat convert text to outlines? Need help...
I'm in a catch 22 and need some help - desparately.
I have a PDF file a client sent but something is wrong with the way the
fonts are embedded in it. When I open it in Acrobat everything is fine, but
when send it to my ripping program it tells me I have to substitute the
fonts. I tried opening in Illustrator 10 but it says, "Fonts with foreign
encodings have been reencoded. Missing Type 1 fonts have been substituted
with teh default font."
I presume the "missing Type 1 fonts" are missing on my end since Acrobat can
open the file with no issue.
The only thing I can think of would be if Acrobat (I have v. 5.0) can
convert fonts to outlines (much like Illustrator). Is this possible? Or is
there a better workaround?
Thanks to anyone who can help...I'm at my wit's end.

they did not embed the right fonts into the PDF - and if they did, maybe
they are on a Mac and embedded Helvetica or soemthing.

The problem here is that this client barely knows how he created the PDF in
the first place. He can't even explain it to me; I have no idea if he
printed to PDF or saved as or exported; no idea. When I asked him to
recreate the PDF with fonts embedded and explained how to do so, he sent me
a file saying "I created this new pdf and selected the option to embed
thumbnails. I hope that helped." Ugh.
I'm getting frustrated because I know that if Acrobat can open this file and
display it correctly there HAS to be some way to export it correctly...

driver, such as pdf995 or PDFCreator? I think one or the other has the
option of converting the fonts.

Re: Can Acrobat convert text to outlines? Need help...
To do that you have to open a new Illustrator document. Place the the pdf. Select the menu Object / Flatten transparency. Make sure to check the Convert all text to outlines option and go. You got the whole pdf in curves.
