Can Apple Pro Speakers be used with other Macs... - Mac Applications & Software

besides the new iMac and G4/5 models? I asked this before as part of another question, so I'm not sure how many people saw it. Is there an adapter that will allow the Pro speakers to be used with an iBook or iPod? TIA!! Steph...

Thanks, Tom! It's a little pricey and still not shipping, but worth
    considering. I appreciate the info.

One solution was already mentioned, but I would just likt to ask why
    you'd want to do this?

I got burned buying the Apple Pro speakers with my G4 tower. I was
incredibly disappointed with the sound quality (clipping, buzzing and
other really annoying distortion at medium-to-high volume levels.)
IMO, these things are only suitable to be thrown in the trash.

My son got them with his new iMac. He was about as impressed as you are
with them, and decided to keep on using his old speakers. So I was
going to sell them on eBay, but then got the idea they might be nice to
use with my iBook and/or iPod. The iBook built in speakers are pretty
bad, too. It is really just a case of already owning them. I think I
will probably just go ahead and sell them, though. I have nice speakers
on my old beige G3 that I can use to listen to music with in my office.
It's not that I needed them, just that I thought maybe they could be
    useful.
