Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
We have a client that would like to use Acrobat to type in a form field (like typing a letter) then be able to print it out. I thought this was possible, but have yet to figure out how.

Re: Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
Robert;
Is your client filling in the field with Acrobat (full version) or just the Reader? Which version and on what platform?

Re: Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
Well, that'a what I need to determine. I believe they would be uing Reader on a PC platform. We would most likley be creating the forms for them on a Mac.
They don't want to form info (as an FDF) they want to print it out like a letter, then save it for furhter letters.
Basically, they would like to use it like Word, only with the higher quality (there is art on the page, logos, etc.) and ease of use of Acrobat.
Thanks...

Re: Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
Hi Robert;
Then platform is not an issue. If the fields are active and created in Acrobat and you do not require the FDF information, they can fill out the form in Reader and Print to Save (basically print the form again as a PDF). This will give them a permanent copy for their records and will allow them to print a hardcopy. The only drawback is that this copy's fields are inactive (basically an image of the original file).
If the form has no active fields (basically just spaces to fill out information), they can then use the Typewriter Tool in Reader. This tool is a feature starting in v.7.0.5:
<http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332263.html>
You need Acrobat Pro 7.0.5 to activate the tool for Reader users. Hope this information will be of help to your client.
Cheers

Re: Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
Thanks very much, Paul. You've been a big help.
We are using the latest Acrobat Pro, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks again.

Re: Can Filled In Form Fields Be Printed?
Out of interest, if you're making lots of these forms, the new Forms
Recognition feature in Acrobat 8 (don't have to stipulate the
Standard/Professionalo bit now) will auto-generate form fields.
Although not 100% perfect (you'll need to acquire the best methodology
from Word ref: dot leaders, underscores, lines etc) it's about 98% in my
testing ...
This will save you lots of time?

Thanks, Jon.
I believe we will be upgrading our Suites to 2.3 (don't know what happens to the repeat profucts like Illustrator, PS, and InDesign, though) so we will have Acrobat 8 soon. Will check out that feature.
