I'm outputting an ID cmyk spread book of 128 pages. I'm getting a "disk is almost full" message after a certain amount of either memory or hard disk space is used. I can always move files over to an external drive and create room. I was just asking if I can have ID or OSX use the external instead.

If you can figure out what the directory is that it is spooling into, you could try to move it to a different disk using a symbolic link in Terminal and see if the OS is okay with that.

CAUTION: I've never tried this! No idea if it could really mess up your system or not!

Use find for visible & invisible & date modified today to try and figure out where the tmp files are being stored (while spooling a job in the background).

Quit everything, copy the directory to the external, append DISABLED to the real directory and then ln to the external using the original directory name and the target directory on external drive.

man ln for more info on linking.
